My husband and I recently had an early dinner at V Modern Italian in The Gulch in Nashville, Tennessee. Because I’m always looking for new hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions, V Modern Italian had shown up on my Instagram feed—and I was immediately drawn to the elaborate décor and upscale vibe.
“V” is the Greek letter for “5,” symbolizing the five senses. This modern Italian concept originated in Europe, with locations in Sweden, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, and Saudi Arabia. The Nashville location, which opened in May 2025, is the brand’s first in the U.S., with plans for additional U.S. locations in the future.

First Impressions
From the moment we arrived at the hostess stand, the experience was flawless. The bar—lined with beautifully displayed bottles—is the focal point of the restaurant. At 4 p.m. on a Sunday, the bar was already bustling.
We were seated immediately at a cozy corner table—ideal for soaking in the energy of the space. Sidewalk patios wrap two sides of the restaurant, while an open kitchen adds even more visual appeal.
The space itself is stunning: mural art by PichiAvo towers above the kitchen, gold flatware complements the thoughtfully plated dishes, and even the triangular tables for larger parties feel like a design moment. The 7,000-square-foot venue blends sophistication and bold creativity.
What We Ordered
We began with a shared Caesar salad, which arrived plated for two. The portion was generous, the cheese plentiful, and the dressing just right—with a surprise touch of crispy bacon bits. It was served on striking blue dinnerware, another thoughtful detail.
While I was tempted by the brick-oven pizzas, I opted instead for the Barolo Braised Short Rib, paired with a velvety mash of seasoned potatoes laced with olive oil and parsley. The dish was rich and indulgent—a special treat I couldn’t quite finish, but thoroughly enjoyed. If I was to order the same entree again, I’d like see about a lighter side – and likely a green veggie.
My husband ordered the pasta Bolognese, made with house-made pasta in a meaty gravy and topped with a Parmesan cheese froth that stole the show. This dish made me wonder if one of the “Nonnas” from the hit Netflix movie with the same name was the head chef.
Too full for dessert, we wrapped our meal with a warm, genuine conversation with our server, “B”. She was polished, professional, and engaging, sharing stories of the restaurant’s European roots and her own background in Peru. When we asked for local recommendations, she even pointed us to a couple of nearby rooftop bars—a thoughtful touch to end the evening.
A Feast for the Senses
V Modern Italian was created to engage all five senses—and it truly delivers.
